Hi All
Is there a LC who works in a neonatal unit with mothers and prem babies, who could answer this question please
I was asked to see a mum to-day in the special care baby unit (not my usual area) who is 7 days postpartum. Baby born at 33 weeks, But to-day is 34 weeks. What would you expect her to be able to pump at each sitting? This mother is pumping 40 - 45 mls at a time. Over the weekend apparently her volume dropped a little but is now back up . I have suggested that she pumps 2 hourly through the day and 3 hourly overnight to help bring her volume up. Her baby is now taking 45 mls per feed.
Thankyou
