I have a mother who is receiving chemo during her pregnancy (breast cancer).
She is receiving her last dose 23 days prior to her induction date. (She is
going to call me with the exact names of the chemo, hopefully tomorrow.).
She is hoping to breastfeed for 6 weeks until the really big gun chemo gets
started. She nursed her first baby for 20 months and is really sad about losing
the nursing experience and breastmilk benefits to this baby. The only thing I
read on Hale's site was it would probably be ok to resume breastfeeding 2
weeks after the last treatment but there is no research to back this up. Of
course the oncologist is telling her no way.
Please also email me privately as I have trouble keeping up with all of the
readings these days on Lactnet.
Thank you!
