Cephalosporins are a class of antibiotics, and cephalexin is a very common
one. Likely, that is what this mom is taking. Its an old drug, and a good
one, and one that any doctor recommending chemical weaning (ie a dinosaur),
is likely to choose. As to the illness, I have no professional knowledge.
Personally, I have had mastitis, but felt better within 48 hours on
antibiotics. She may want to see the doctor again, she may need a different
drug, and needs to be watched for abcess, of course. I worry about this
doctor, though, giving her a hard time about not weaning.
