I saw this on discovery or TLC I think. When the gorilla had her first baby,
she kept lifting the baby up to her face when it would fuss, and the baby
would try to latch onto her lip. They gave her as much time as was safe, then
took the baby to raise on the bottle before it was in danger. During the second
pregancy they showed the mom gorilla videos of other gorillas nursing their
babies. She was able to nurse the second baby within the specified time. I
think it was 24 hours that they allowed. I don't know if LLLI had anything to
do with it.

have heard this urban legend about the mom gorilla that was raised in
captivity and didn't know how to BF her baby. W/ her second pregnancy, LLLI was
brought in to BF in front of mother to assist her in learning the "womanly art of
BF". Anyone have a creatable reference to this?
