Dear Nursing Students,
For more information about birth practices from the "other side", please
read these books: Impact of Birth Practices on Breastfeeding by M.
Kroeger and L. Smith (this one is probably the most research oriented),
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin, A Good Birth, A Safe
Birth, (third revised edition) by D. Korte, Natural Childbirth The
Bradley Way (revised edition) by S. McCutcheon, The Caesarean by M.
Odent. Also this web site for "FDA Approved Obstetric Drugs: Their
Effect on Mother and Baby" www.nwhalliance.org. These books cover the
questions you are asking about birthing procedures and after birth
practices. I am sure there are others but this is all I could remember
now. I have no financial interest in these books, just been brushing up
on my own reading lately in preparation for teaching a BF class at
Babies R Us.
