> I agree that the weight gain sounds ok. Normal for a breastfed baby is to regain birth weight by day 10-14, then 6 ounces a week gain thereafter. Two pounds of gain at 6 weeks would be about 8 ounces a week for the last 4 weeks. I have had several heart defect babies be fed by tube and a pump in the night time because they could not eat enough to grow. Bottles and or breast in the day. I would try allowing this baby to nurse for 10-15 minutes, give it a break, change the diaper, burp, and try nursing again to see if more intake is gained this way. I have also seen great results with the Haberman feeder when baby can't manage a normal nipple. Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
