Hi Barbara (Latterner) and all fellow Lactnetters,
Happy new year to you all.
As for the blocked ducts a couple of big culprits can be something as simple
as the way she sleeps and also her bra. Has she been advised to get her bra
and sleeping bra fitted by a certified bra fitter? In my experience this
simple little thing managed the problem of recurrent blocked ducts on
several women I'd seen. Also, If constantly sleeping in one position on the
ofennding side, it may be possible that the pressure from the way she sleeps
can be causing the blockage. I am sure you probably went over that with her,
but I thought I'd suggest it anyway.
Also, has she thought to pump with Limerick's PJ Comfort pump instead of the
Symphony? I love this pump! I have come to appreciate it with women that
have induced lactation or relactated. I would really suggest she try to get
a hold of one of these pumps (BTW, I have No interest in that company only a
firm belief in it). Since this pump actually massages the breast as it
pumps, she may get a better MER.
I hope this helps.
Warmly,
Veronica Tingzon, IBCLC, RLC
