Mary,
I'm very sorry if I offended you or anyone else with my judgemental
statement about self-centeredness and selfishness. Of course, I know
there are many, many factors involved with deciding to bottlefeed. I
was referring to the ones who really are informed of the benefits and
just think bottle feeding will be easier. My work with teenagers has
probably influenced my thoughts on this. And I do realize that how
you feed your child does not determine whether you are a good mother
or bad mother. Like I said, just because you breastfeed does not mean
you will be a good mother. Good mothers are bad sometimes and bad
mothers are good sometimes. And mothers like me who say things they
regret late at night on Lactnet are sometimes bad. Sorry.
Pam Wiggins, IBCLC
