Christine and others:
As we are looking at a new bfdg policy...I looked to ACOG and AWHONN and
AAP. Basically, their standards of practice state those things should be
delayed until first breastfeeding, an hour or more is certainly ok. Now Vit K does
say within 1 hour, eye drops, wts is delay up to 1 hour OR UNTIl first
breastfeeding. So there is some wiggle room in policy making. As far as
temperature regulation, there is little documentation on skin to skin, just noting
temp regulation is important factor...so with right documentation of skin to
skin benefits, you should be able to tie that right in.
