It could still be allergies. Sometimes allergies are very tricky.(Maybe the mother has allergy to sweet potatoes.) She could TRY eating low-allergenic foods that she never or almost never ate before -some examples that come to mind are lamb, quinona (a grain), millet.Any food that she ate regularly could be suspect.  She sounds like someone who would be open to the suggestion of trying new foods she has never eaten before (some people are not open to that idea  at all). Also, lots and lots of patience (and humor) are needed in this situation. See if she is open to trying a "rare foods diet" and then see if you can help her figure out what foods might work.  She probably would want to see an allergist for herself and / or baby at some point down the line, but right now, she just needs to figure out what she can eat to keep bf, and you can do that with her.  That would empower her to keep working on solutions to the diet dilemma.  My sister had a similar problem with her baby, only in his case he screamed day and night - she ate a lot of rare foods she had never eaten before. Good luck.
