One of my friends applied for a full time lactation job at a hospital-- she
was already there part time in lactation. She was told that if she was a
full time lactation consultant, then she would have to "work the floors" as an
RN as part of being full time. Since she needed full time work, and wanted to
stay in lactation -- not be pulled at the whim of administration or based on
how busy they were or who didn't show up, she chose to leave that hospital
and was snapped up by another in a heartbeat.

Very sad, and a great loss to the hospital she left.
