I was contacted by phone today by a lady with several issues. I don’t
know the answers and I’m hoping someone has some experience to aid me.

history--
She had twins at 5 months at age 22--they did not survive. She was then
on the birth control pill for16 years. Post-BC pill she tried to become
pregnant without success. Was perimenapausal by age 42 or 43. Still
wanted to have a baby. Used a regimen of estrogen and progesterone
cream, (she called it “bioidentical” to estrogen & progesterone from a
pharmacist, don’t know exactly what that means) to start having regular
periods again. Got “pregnant” with an “embryo transplant”, needed 2.5 cc
of progesterone, once a week for 6 weeks to keep the pregnancy.
Delivered twins at 35 weeks on 7/25. She is now 47.

problem--
Mom has been pumping using a Classic pump. Said she was getting about 3
oz/pumping yesterday. Today her supply is about 1/3 of yesterday. Said
her breasts today feel like pre-pregnancy. Her bleeding stopped, not
diminished, but stopped, today and her stomach got “flat”. She also said
she passed some LARGE clots in the first few days after the birth.
Additionally, feels strange today, like she wants to jump out of her
skin. Wants to know what’s happened to her milk supply, plus what’s
happening to her body.

I strongly suggested she contact her OB about her abrupt physical changes
and the feeling strange.. Also counseled her to continue pumping on a
2-3 hr schedule and I’d ask my friends on the internet for help.

So help!!

Warmly,
Pat Bucknell IBCLC
