Good question about what to teach in the hospital setting regarding 
bedsharing. Unfortunately, I believe you should be very careful and not come 
right out and recommend bedsharing (which I do believe in and did practice) 
because it would likely cause great problems for you. I would feel 
comfortable stating that the bedsharing issue is far from resolved and that 
there is very good research and recommendations by McKenna, for example. If 
you do discuss this subject, do discuss safe bedsharing environments.
Especially if you teach a class, this can be discussed. I often use an 
example about discipline. Some "experts" believe in corporal punishment. 
Others feel there is never a place for it. Or you could use an example about 
starting complementary foods. Some "experts" prescribe rigid feeding amounts 
and schedules and others encourage a more relaxed approach w/ table foods. I 
encourage parents to not just accept one "rule" but to read and think and 
consider alot more and make the best decisons they can.
