I had very painful let down's, I also had over supply. There was a discussion
of this on the Acad. BF MEd listserv and a few mentioned (with out evidence
though) using Mg! I tried it, I think it helped, I still had oversupply and
forcefull let downs but they weren't as painful, fixing the oversupply is
really the key though
there was a funny quote in one story in the book "Fresh Milk, the
secret life of
breasts" where a woman with a difficult breastfeeding experience said that
(paraphrase) the next time someone tells her that let down can be a tinglin
sensation, she will come after them with a proctoscope, her doctor said it can
be a bit "uncomfortable"
