Dear Friends:
Yesterday, when I was working with a pediatric nurse practitioner to
understand her management of the big term baby with RDS/pneumonia, I asked her
if she'd like a copy of Meier's research.
She said, "No". She said she'd been working with babies like this for 30
years and that it wouldn't change her management of the case.
I replied that I didn't expect her management of this case to change and
thought that it might be interesting for her to see what some new research
is showing.
No go.
My jaw stayed in place............at least on the outside!
May I never, never close myself to hearing about something new or
different.
This baby, despite his breathing trouble, was hell-bent on
breastfeeding, and had at least 4 bouts while he was s2s. I still can't understand why it
is okay for him to suck a pacifier, but not his mother's breast.
warmly,
