Hi Dr. Sudha,
Medela offers information for reimbursement for breast pumps, lactation
services, and breastfeeding accessories at:
http://www.medela.com/newfiles/reburstmt_pro.html
We also find that if the services were sought by recommendation from the
baby's HCP, and if the lactation services can be honestly coded in any way
towards baby, there is a greater chance they will be reimbursed by the
insurance company. Sometimes insurance companies ask for a prescription for
human milk in the baby's name, in order to get reimbursement. It also pays
(literally) to be tenacious and ask once, twice, three times, even four
times, because the insurance company will sometimes concede after that many
"no's".
Would you by chance be that awesome new Chandler ped I hear so much about
from my LLL mommies?? I'm thrilled to hear you will have an IBCLC on your
staff!
HTH,
Debbie Gillespie, IBCLC, RLC
