One thing to remember is that when antifungal are started the candida starts
to die off and the patient feels worse for a few days. I believe it releases
a toxin as it dies off. And from what I remember of what Dr. Hale said in
October, that antifungals don't kill the yeast, they stop it from
reproducing. So it takes some time. He also said that these cases where mom
is not getting better after weeks and weeks of antifungal treatment are
probably not yeast. The problem is we don't really know what is going on in
many of these cases. Or so I remember and I hope I got this right!

PS: From my research a lay person, it seems that candida is best treated
holistically with a change in diet/nutrition not just a medication. Candida
infections seem to affect those with compromised immune systems. I have read
many books with information on candida -- I am reading one now that is
actually about natural remedies for stomach and intestinal problems and it
covers yeast problems. Seems like all of them recommend probiotics and
vitamins and herbs, not just taking antifungal medications. A famous book is
The Yeast Connection (in many versions). I know of a doctor here in Houston
that has information on his web site on candida. Most doctors who know more
about candida absolutely recommend dietary changes and restrictions and
claim it takes several weeks for change/improvement. Therefore, I suggest
LCs go to their library and look for books on allergies, natural remedies,
or candida and do some research.
