This is an excellent point, Debbie. Does anyone have a link to any
references on this issue? I'd really like to have it in hand when this
topic comes up in my classes.
I had to laugh at your comments about daddies loving bedsharing. My
son-in-law is a huge advocate of the family bed. I think I may have
written about that here in the past. He objected strongly when my
daughter suggested that they should get their 2 year old to sleep in his
own bed because they had another baby on the way... so they just bought a
bigger bed. Now all four of them are nice and cozy in their king sized
bed. John openly brags about it to anyone who will listen - co-workers,
customers, strangers. He loves it. He says he cannot imagine putting a
child of his to bed in another room. :) We love John. LOL.
As for the question of intimacy when the family bed is in practice, John
has a ready answer for that, too. When someone made a comment to him once
about how they were able to conceive baby #2 with their toddler in their
bed every night, John said, "Dude... if you think the only place babies
are conceived is in the bed in the master bedroom, you're sorely lacking
in imagination." ;)
