Oh Janice,
Thank you so much for bringing to the attention of the group regarding emailing! I know many of you feel as professionals that no one will listen, since you are fighting an daily uphill battle with breastfeeding, particularly here in the USA. But your emails do get noticed, especially if the numbers are there. I think calls do too because it takes up more time.
Numbers count. Look where we might be if in the 50s and 60s if more folks were walking around the hospital promoting breastfeeding, instead of the pasteurized new fangled formula. If the masses start to see it as important, more will do it. And the news media, local and state governments have to be swayed too by numbers and more numbers of email. And while we cannot change the commentators or the council members to change their views, they will be at least silent on the subject since they want to please their constituents and views.
