re: What are parents supposed to do--glue the piece of plastic into the
baby's mouth at night, put him all alone into a crib on his back, in a
separate room, andwire him to an apnea monitor, motion sensor, sonar,
radar, and install a telemetry unit in their bedroom?
I hate to say it, but I do know some mothers of preemies who have come
home from the hospital doing exactly that!
re: the dr. who said to nurse until the baby could ask for it and then
stop. When we had our 1st my husband and I said the same thing. How little
we knew! Our daughter was a fluent talker by 10 mos. and was able to tell
us unequivocally for the next five years how SHE felt about being weaned.
(She finally gave up the boobie just past her sixth b-day). For those
parents fortunate enough to just be encouraged to follow their heart and
their baby's lead, miracles do happen!
