Like Cathy Watson Genna, I have found it helpful for the mother to
gently offer her breast to the baby when he is almost asleep and
almost awake. I also encourage the mother to sleep with her baby, skin
to skin. Sometimes the mother will wake to find her baby snuggled up
close and latched on :)
It is important to emphasise that these are ONGOING activities less
they be abandoned after one or two attempts.
