Please everyone LIGHTEN UP. No one is intimating that anyone is less of
a mother if they use a breastfeeding pillow. No one is saying that all
pillows are garbage. The take home message here is that there ARE no
rules, that our teaching needs to be customized to the particular dyad
and their situation. That's what being a consultant is all about, to
have the expertise to make things work in a variety of situations,
without tools or with tools, and making the proper choice of tools when
they are necessary or helpful.

I read lactnet to learn, to share what I know, and to feel camraderie
with my colleagues. It's not any fun if people are frequently taking
offense at things that are not meant to be offensive. Please, if
something offends you, read it several times over several days and see
if you read it the same way when you are feeling a little less tender or
defensive. Show it to someone who knows you well, and see if they read
it the same way. Then respond as kindly as you can. We all do the best
we can, please all try to believe that. Just because you personally have
a different experience or opinion than what someone else writes, does
not necessarily mean that your experience or opinion was WRONG, or that
theirs was.
I need Lactnet to be energy recharging, not energy draining. I have
enough to do with my family, clients, presentations, and writing without
getting stressed out about Lactnet.
End of sermon.
