We actually own our pumps (through grants & fund raising). It started
because we ran across a lot of low income moms (made to much to qualify for
WIC, but not enough for the full rental fees) and when we own the pumps it
makes it easier to have sliding scale fees - we don't owe anything to Ameda
& Medela on per month rental fees. For what I have in stock my monthly
rental fee to each combined would be around $350 per month. Since they are
numbered getting them repaired isn't an issue and the 2 I have had to get
repaired has been around $100 each.
The down side is most of the big company sites when they list where to find
local retailers don't list you as a rental site when you don't rent from
them.
