Ok, all this weight loss talk has me curious. I'm admitting here I'm not quite the expert so my naivity may show a bit here, but seriously what will happen if the baby does not gain weight? I'm going solely off of personal experience as a formula reaction almost killed my son w/i the first 24 hours of supplementation. So we tossed it and just dealt w/ the milk transfer issues. In retrospect I probably should have supplemented post nursings w/ 2 oz of expressed b/m instead of 1 oz. but still, he took 3 weeks to reach his birth weight again and then didn't gain again until he was 2 mos old. Yes the pediatrician called daily asking his weight and sighing when I said "he's holding steady" but it wasn't worth supplementing w/ formula again. He figured it all out. Just took him a while and now at 22 months old and still in love w/ his "ni nites" I just see no untoward effects. It has made me not spaz w/ moms that I'm helping at all. Which I think in turn has helped them relax
and aided in them resolving issues quicker. So seriously, what will really happen? Curious minds want to know.
