Good Morning Lactnetters: To my surprise, I have not been able to find
anything on hemophilia! A nurse in our clinic came to me with a question
for a mother who has just had her third child with hemophilia. The baby is
6 weeks old and the mother has been breast and bottle feeding, but has
become nervous about continuing to breastfeed b/c some BRILLIANT hcp told
her it would hurt the baby. I could not find anything in Lawrence, in
"Conditions and Diseases", LLL "Answer Book", "Breastfeeding the Special
Care Child" or Riorden.
Anybody? I cannot think of a reason why she could not breastfeed, and
plenty of ideas why she should.
HELP.
