I second Michele's thoughts about Medela's policy letters. I feel they
help support the individual rental stations over the big box stores.
Have you noticed they don't have their own retail outlets? The basis of
their business is individual care by small rental station operators. In
my area, when B----- R U- has a sale on Pump in Style, my price is still
better. The internet sellers are the ones I can't compete with. I have
had clients ask why they should buy from me rather than the internet
source. I tell them I can guarantee the pump has not been used, offer
replacement/extra parts, answer questions when they use the pump and a
scale for them to weigh their babies for their own reassurance. Some
see the added value in that, some don't.
If Medela is guilty of anything, it is poor choice of words in their
letter. It has the sound of a hidden agenda when there is none, in my
opinion.
