Pat asked:
>"Away in a manger no crib for a bed...
>The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay."
>For goodness sake, what was he doing in the hay?
I always assumed that Mary laid Him in the manger while Joseph helped her
clean herself up from the birth! As poor travelers they did not have a
doula to help them. :-(
I also assumed that the Lord Jesus was patient and didn't cry while they
took care of necessities, even though they were in a stable full of animal
sounds and he was in a manger full of hay - not the best of beds. I'll bet
Mary picked him up as soon as she was able!
It's true, though, that this world did not give him a warm welcome -
