When ever I'm run down I feel my cold sore start up. I take lysine and
stay away from nuts and other foods high in arginine for a few days
(chocolate, peanuts, seeds, & gelatin). Lycine blocks arginine. It
always works & clears up and goes into remission in two or three days. I
wonder if you take the Lysine (an amino acid) enough might come through
the breastmilk so the baby might reap the benefit. I don't know how
much is needed by the baby. A dosage of 1 gram 3 X a day with meals is
effective for adults. Foods high in lysine include most vegetables,
fish, chicken, & turkey.
