In the past few months I have come across a few breastfeeding mums who have breastfed previous babies without any problems but with the current baby are experiencing "pinched" sore nipples for a number of weeks.
On assessment of both mother and baby, the common theme with these babies has been a high narrow palate. I can only assume their previous children had different shaped mouths as their breastfeeding experiences were quite pain free.
My advice has centred around a deeper latch, healing of the nipples and reassurance that this will get better. I would be grateful for any other words of wisdom.
