i have permission to post.
Saw a mother and a 2.5 day old baby today. When I got there the baby
hadn't eaten in an hour. When I held her she vomited 3 times. Mom
said this has been going on since about 12 hours PP. Exclusive BFing.
We pumped and finger fed about 5-7 cc's to see if that would some how
stay down. I recommended he do these small frequent feeds whenever
the baby made any sort of hunger cue. The baby has had 3 wet diapers
and 2 meconium stools (no stools today) Baby has a large hematoma on
her head from asynclit presentation and 3 hour pushing stage. We
called the ped, she said Pyloric Stenosis shows up mostly in boys and
not until 2 weeks. Could it be some other kind of blockage?? The baby
does have some jaundice and great turgor and LOOKS good.. not crying
a bunch. Very sleepy at the breast. I have never seen a baby at 2.5
days vomit like this, it is not immediate. It takes a while, that is
why I am thinking blockage.. Any ideas??
TIA
