I agree with Jean. I try and educate without embarrassing.  Sometimes I
prefix a sentence with "As you know....."  and then explain the very basics,
with some little current addition so they get the information, and don't
feel insulted by my thinking they didn't know that.  I also say "How I
explain it to mothers is...." so they also get the explanation simply.
