>>Since PCOS can involve either too much prolactin or too little, does
anyone ever monitor the prolactin levels of mothers who have been diagnosed
with PCOS, during the early postpartum period?<<
I have not officially monitored prolactin levels, but of the women who did
get them checked (we're talking a small "n" here), they were normal. In my
thesis study (n=30) I asked about hyperprolactinemia (some include in PCOS
dx, some exclude PCOS dx with hyerPRL), and none of my moms with low milk
supply had it. I would love to see a full study that looked at these moms
and their hormones, though.
