The highest weight gain I've heard of is a little girl who was 50 lb at a
year. I saw just her arm, from the far side of a busy room, and immediately
thought, "There's something wrong with that baby!" They took her from
specialist to specialist in her infancy. Finally Alan Cunningham said, "You
have a healthy breastfed little girl. Enjoy her." She slimmed down in
toddlerhood. Her younger sister, as I understand it, followed the same
pattern. I'm sure these babies would have *preferred* to be thinner - I
imagine it related to an oversupply problem - but it doesn't seem to have
affected their later body form. By now the older is probably only about 10,
so no way to know longterm consequences.
