I agree.
There's no harm (and a lot of good) in looking at how various cultures
handle similar situations.  However, "primitive" cultures often have
stricter taboos than industrialized cultures.  Just because there is little
technology doesn't mean they are necessarily more in touch with reality.
For instance, the belief that colostrum is not good for babies is accepted
because everyone in the culture "knows" it to be true.
