It disgusts me how the ABM companies constantly make Moms feel that their
milk is somehow inadequate or lacks something, thus targeting the market of
people who are rejecting their ABM and choosing to breastfeed. To suggest
we take DHA supplements is such an outrage. It really is all about money.
Its such an uphill battle to keep our Moms believing in their own bodies to
feed their babies when other sources such as ABM companies and even some in
the medical profession and right in the hospital tell them otherwise and
make them worry. Right after my birth, I was told in the hospital by the
nursery nurses my colostrum wasn't enough and that I need to supplement
until my milk comes in. Naturally, I told them what they could all do with
their ABM supplements. They were not too fond of me after that! But what
about the Mom who is questioning herself and cannot advocate for her rights.
We have to hope they call the LC or LLL. Its so important to catch these
Moms when theyre pregnant so they can go to the hospital armed with
information and confidence. Everytime we help a Mom continue to breastfeed,
we are enabling her to trust her body and be a more confident Mother.
