Great discussion, Diane and all.
The single biggest thing I use to help moms with sore nipples, and
the simplest, is to get the index finger OFF the lower areola so it is
open for the baby. I have had such great results with this over the
past 5 years, after I learned it from our dear Catherine W-G at a
conference in Wisconsin. I tease moms a bit and say 'Most of us women
do a good job holding the whole breast, but we only need to support the
base of the breast, not the whole breast.' I want to praise her for her
efforts, and show her a better way.
Oh how I love lactation! I was born for this!!!! Thank you tons
to Diane and all of you precious older women who have pioneered the trail
for me!
