Note the difference... Liz Lange's wording suggests that what is best for
Mom is best for baby. The breastfeeding campaign suggests that what is
best for BABY is best for Mom. Those are two different perspectives, as
Pam Morrison noted in her email. I think you should send a follow-up to
Liz, Susan. Perhaps concede that, yes, Baby may be affected by Mom's
emotional status... but Baby is DEFINITELY affected by what s/he is fed.
You could also point out that breastfeeding has a positive effect on Mom's
emotions when she produces prolactin, a "feel good" hormone.
Of course... it may all be falling on deaf ears so maybe your energy is
spent on something more positive. :/
