I was a petite baby/child but am very normal, a little overweight now. I
didn't double my birthwt until 1 year old. My mom's Pedi said not to
worry about it, in 1958.
One of my daughter's was a robust gainer and is a healthy 15 yo now. My
other daughter had the exact same gaining pattern I did, through infancy
and elementary school. I had my vaccination/wt record to compare. My
Pedi sent me and Naomi to a dietician when she was about 6 mos old, in
'92. Thinking back, a referral to a Lact. Consultant would have been
more helpful. A friend in LLL suggested adding butter to her cereal,
which I did, the gain made the dr. happy. Then I switched docs, got a
petite Pedi who had 3 petite sons. No more wt problem for Naomi! And I
stopped the butter in the cereal, thought why am I adding fats to make a
dr. happy? What would have been more helpful is breast compression and
adding a feeding or 2 during the night.
