Hello to all.
I am sorry to learn of some of the eye problems of some of your
children, and glad to hear that some of them were able to be fixed with surgery or
other means. Please remember that I said amblyopia--which is one type of eye
problem, not all--*predominantly* occurs in bottle-fed babies. There are
exceptions to every rule. Although breastfeeding reduces the risk of later need
for speech therapy or orthodontia, there are still children who were
breastfed who will need either or both of these therapies. Research can only show
risk in a population, not what will happen with any given person. I am also
sure that some eye problems are congenital, and some are due to birth trauma
and might be helped by craniosacral therapy. The question Jeanette asked was
why do we suggest alternating sides when bottle-feeding. One of the reasons
is to *reduce risk* of amblyopia, but as in everything else in life, there are
no guarantees.
