I would like to clear up any confusion that may exist due to some statements
in recent news reports about the opening of Prolacta. Prolacta is not
connected with any of the non-profit milk banks belonging to HMBANA--the
twelve milk banks who are members of the Human Milk Banking Association of
North America have not agreed to become milk collection sites for this new
company. HMBANA banks will continue to operate as non-profits/charities,
serving hospitals and outpatients all over the US and Canada. Please see
our website if you would like more information or a list of HMBANA milk
banks: http://www.hmbana.org/ Also, here is one of our position statements
clarifying how and why we operate as non-profits:

*Disclosure: I am employed by the Mothers' Milk Bank at Austin (and am
currently donating milk there--over 600 ounces so far! What an amazing
feeling to give milk to the babies who need it!)
