With the birth of my fourth baby the hospital wanted to do a blood sugar on
my baby since it was standard on all big babies and mine was 8 lbs 12 oz. This
didn't seem big to me since my previous baby was 9 lb 1 oz (which was a
homebirth so no one to tell me you have to get a blood sugar). When I had said
no I didn't see the need my baby is kept close with skin to skin and
unrestricted nursing which was going well. So then dr came into ask me why I was
refusing such an important test and the hospital's LC said here look this mom has
plenty of milk and squirted breastmilk out of my breast towards the drs
direction. He then left. I was was around 12 hrs pp.
