An OB resident I used to work with was breastfeeding her son. I asked her
how the breastfeeding was going and she mentioned that he would only latch
with the nipple shield [he was about 5 months at the time]. What happened
next was what struck me funny - she reached into her scrub top and out of
her bra she pulled the nipple shield! She explained to me that she never
knew when she'd have time or opportunity to nurse, or what she'd be wearing,
but by keeping it her bra between her breasts she'd always have it with her
if her husband brought her son to the hospital to nurse.
