Others have addressed the medications involved, but I wanted to suggest
another resource for the mother who is nursing her just-one-year-old while
newly pregnant. The book, "Adventures in Tandem Nursing: Breastfeeding
During Pregnancy and Beyond" by Hilary Flower, Schaumburg, IL: La Leche
League International, 2003 has a good chapter on decision-making about
nursing during high risk pregnancies. It is available from LLLI or possibly
in the local library or can be ordered through any bookstore.
It will at least help this mom think through the issues she faces. The book
addresses mothers'concerns seriously and does not gloss over the
difficulties, but gives sound and thoughtful and emotionally supportive
information and provides references.
