Yes--many medical Boards now require renewal.  The American Academy of 
Pediatrics requires retaking the exam in person or via computer every 7 
years, and my husband just retook his Internal Medicine Boards recently.  In 
addition, individual states decide how much CME (continuing medical 
education) credits to require per year to maintain a medical license.
