Beth,
     You are absolutely right(IMHO) that covering draws more attention but 
what always bothers me in this discussion is the idea that (gasp!) Women have 
the nerve to bf in public-they could at least be polite and cover up. At least 
this is the message we are sending culturally. I too have always just nursed my 
kids and no one has ever said anything (negative) to me. I do understand that 
unfortunately many women do feel that they need to be "discreet." And most 
certainly we have to work with them where they are. I just think as nursing moms 
and breastfeeding specialists we have a great opportunity to model a more 
normal behavior i.e. nursing without covering. Just my two cents and I hope it 
makes sense because nursing an infant I think does cause temporary brain damage.
