I understand where Jen is coming from Re: self fulfilling prophecy, but on
the other hand, a prenatal breast exam is part of the HCP's responsibility.
THe HCP checks cardio status, B/P etc. The whole person is the patient, not
just the baby carrying apparatus!
Do you realize that the most delayed dx of breast cancer is in pregnant and
nursing women? The breasts need to be checked. Odd size, surgical scars
etc need to be noted. Inverted nipples can be dealt with. The HCP doesn't
have to say to the mom, oh your breasts are xyz and you probably won't be
able to nurse! It's just good practice to check the breasts. Pat in SNJ
