Dear Amy: I consider breast-feeding in public something totally unnecessary
and offensive. There are always places this can be done in private. The women
who do this are subjecting everyone around them to a private event.
But then, our entire society seems to have lost any semblance of manners and
polite behavior. Manners, along with saluting the flag, seem to have
disappeared.
-- Elaine in Colorado
Dear Elaine: I think that a breast-feeding mother is as American as the
stars and stripes and mom's apple pie. I doubt that you or I would be here as
proud Americans if our mothers or grandmothers weren't willing to feed us --
even in public.
