Hi there!

I'm so pleased to learn of this forum!

My name is Yulanda Ridge and I'm a Lactation Consultant in South Africa.

I've been working with breastfeeding moms and babies for the past 11 years
and to me there's no more beautiful sight than to watch a well-latched
baby and happy mom nursing contentedly!

I have 3 children, aged 9, 11 and 13 and have breastfed all 3 of them for
a total of 5 years.
- Our 1st son was breastfed for 8½ months - and I made all my mistakes
with him being the first baby when I had no help and only wrong advice to
go on. I relatctated him at 6 weeks as I had very reluctantly put him on
the bottle after I got terribly engorged which ended in damaged nipples.
(How I wish I knew then what i know now!)
- Our daughter weaned herself at 14 months when I fell pregnant with our
3rd child (even though I wanted to tandem nurse, she was not interested at
all).
- Our 3rd baby boy was breastfed till a month before his 3rd birthday. He
was my real learning school when it came to learning what a good latch was
as I had blood-blisters on each nipple from the first feed in hospital! My
first 2 babies instictively latched well so I didn't have personal
experience in this yet, and thought I "knew it all" when I was pregnant
with our 3rd! LOL.

I was referred to this site by Jacquie Nutt, an IBCLC in South Africa
after I sent her some pics of the worst case of thrush or eczema on the
nipples that I've ever come across. I would like to post those 2 pics to
this site and get some feed-back on it please? (I'm just not sure how to
post the pics without them being attachments?)
