I have personally traveled with frozen EBM on dry ice. It was within the US,
from OR to MN, and I used an old Omaha Steaks styrofoam cooler and 4lbs of
dry ice for about 160oz in 3 oz plastic bottles. I didn't tell the airline
about the dry ice, and the cooler was opened before departure. The gate
agent found me and asked what was in the cooler, and how much dry ice. She
said that I should have disclosed the contents and the dry ice at check in.
They just replaced my dry ice, and it was no problem. The dry ice was
probably overkill in my situation, but I was very paranoid about my milk
making the journey.
