I must admit, after reading all the comments - well meaning, i am sure
- about how bad nursing pillows are i started to wonder if maybe i made
a mistake by using the boppy pillow to nurse my daughter in the early
months of her life. what was wrong with me that it actually helped
instead of hindered?
but Susan Burgers message helped to bolster me out of my need to defend
myself. i agree with you wholeheartedly Susan and thank you for your
"confession" :) i have very large breasts (i mean gi-normous!) and i
just couldn't handle the support of the baby and my breasts without
some sort of support. (maybe a third arm would have helped.) and the
conventional pillows at home didn't help. they kept sliding off my
lap. without the hugging boppy pillow, i don't know how i would have
managed to feed the tiny girl those first few months. and not only
that, my boppy doubled as a doughnut cushion to ease my discomfort from
stitches in the first two weeks. (this was, of course, before i
realised how much easier it would make breastfeeding!)
so, to re-iterate - i know that you mean well by saying that mums don't
need gadgets and whoozits to bf their babies, and most women probably
don't. but every mother and every baby are different and some people
just need a little extra "thingie" to help them. ain't nothing wrong
with that. if it helps...
warmest regards
cian sawyer, CLC
mom of 22 month old princess
